Charleston

An unexpected Saturday dinner at The Tides, just me and Mom on the patio. Mint Chocolate Chip Ice cream and watercolor paint-by-numbers with Milan. Floating in the pool, drinking cheap beer and chatting with three sisters. Delicious sushi at O-Ku and frozen drinks at Pier 101 with Lala. Eavesdropping on morning conversations in the courtyard at Kudu. A new T-Rex skeleton and the CofC Library with Andrea and Lawler (aka Lolly-O-Pizza-Bagel to her big brother). Precious reading time in the graveyard at the Unitarian Universalist. Wandering south of Broad and The Battery, following a couple of rogue guineafowl around Legare Street. A swing through the Market to pick up a pendant from a local jewelry-maker and a sneaky wee afternoon bourbon at Blind Tiger. A fantastic dinner of pork belly, duck confit, cornbread, peach profiteroles and Woody Creek Rye at HUSK. Paddle-boarding up Folly River and dolphins strand feeding. Walking along the water's edge, listening to Haim. Singing Jean Rohe's new National Anthem sitting on the sea wall. An annual pilgramage to Jestine's for pecan whiting, okra and those fried green tomatoes. Reading through sunset on the Folly Pier while watching dolphins playing in the waves.
